#InMyKindleEra – All About My Kindle

HOLD UP! YOUR KINDLE HOMEGIRL COMIN’ THRUUUUUU

Hi, hello, how have you been? It’s been a while on this space, mainly because July was the month of deadline for me and also because I finally, finally caved in and got myself a Kindle so I’ve just been reading a lot! YEAAAAY!

I’ve wanted one in a while but my husband always talked me out of it with an argument that I already have an iPad and I can just read on there, you know? And I get it: why spend more money on another small tablet that you can do only one thing on–reading–when you already have a perfectly oiled machine that can handle reading and a bunch of other things?

I get it. I do.

But when you’re struck with a level 100000 pain of migraine from reading eight hours per day for two days straight, it kinda make you not want to read anymore, you know? Hence, the big fall on the number of books I read in April, May, and June. Managed to read only one book because I’m not risking getting another migraine again. It was so bad I had to ice my head to alleviate the pain. It’s the only temporary solution that worked. Paracetamol? Naproxen? Caffox? Tried them all, didn’t work.

A friend of mine, Najwa, bought a Kindle Basic and the temptation to buy one was out of this world. I had to get it! I went on Shopee–as per usual–and found a shop who sells preloved Kindle. I have surveyed a preloved Kindle since March but nothing fell through. I kinda just forget about it after a while. The reason why I wanted a preloved one was I didn’t want to contribute money to Amazon and I wasn’t sure how I feel about reading on a Kindle. What if I didn’t like it? Then it’d be a waste of money to purchase new.

I got the Kindle Paperwhite 10th Generation in the colour Sage which isn’t the colour I wanted initially but I wanted it asap so it was either this or the Twilight Blue. I went with this green one which turns out pretty with the pink book stickers I purchased. To say I was obsessed with it was an understatement. It got me out of a reading slump. I’m on my 11th book in just three weeks. How crazy is that? And the best thing is I can read as much as I want in a day and I won’t get headache. That alone is reason enough to get a Kindle if you’re a reader. It’s such an amazing device. I will be using this Kindle for as long as it can live.

  3. I totally relate to this! There’s something about reading on a Kindle that just makes it easier on the eyes compared to tablets or phones. Your story about getting back into reading after a migraine slump really highlights one of the best benefits of e-readers—the comfort and freedom to read as much as you want without strain. Love that you went for the Sage Paperwhite too—it’s such a beautiful color! Sounds like the Kindle was a perfect choice for you.
