Velvet Vanity Cosmetics is a locally owned beauty company here in Malaysia and I'm always, always up to trying local products because it's 2020 and we have come a long way from those shady, ready-to-label, wholesale-buy-in-bulk skincare and cosmetics that seemed to take over the beauty community some years ago.
Velvet Vanity is famous for their liquid lipsticks but sadly to say I haven't tried any of it yet. The Pucker for You (Glossy Glo Lip Oil) is my entrée into the brand and I'm really excited because I love everything glossy. The GGLO is a lip care for chapped lips, non-sticky, works like skincare and gives you a glossy finish. Kind of like a treatment lip gloss.
It retails for RM49.90 for 2 glosses in the shade crystal clear (self-explanatory, it's a clear gloss) and hotshot (with a hint of pink). Each gloss is 2.2ml.
This product is cruelty-free, vegan, paraben-free, and fragrance-free!
The ingredient:
Poyglyceryl-2 Isostearate/Dimer Dilinoleate Copolymer, Dimer Dilinoleyl Dimer Dilinoleate, C15-19 Alkane, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Morus Nigra Fruit Extract, Diisostrearyl Malate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Portulaca Pilosa Extract, Sucrose Cocoate, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate. Where to buy:
crystal clear;
I use this mainly at night right after showering but not before I go to bed because I do prefer using lip sleeping mask instead. My lips tend to be on the drier side so I always like to put something on my lips after shower because that's when my lips are super dry.
hotshot;
I use hotshot during the day because it has a little bit of pink so I don't look dead. Another way of using it is I would put on my Etude House lip tint and hotshot on top of it.
They don't claim longevity with this lip oils so I don't expect them to be long-lasting. They were gone once I'm done with my meal but that's how it is with lip glosses from all brands I've tried.
They are fragrance-free which is not a bad thing but I do prefer my glosses to have at least a hint of fruitiness because after some time, the lip oils don't smell good anymore. They don't smell of anything when you first bought them but with every application there's bound to be bacteria (??) sticking on the applicator and you put them in the tube again and since there's no fragrance, they start to smell a little bit.
The applicator is super short! It doesn't reach the bottom of the tube so I have to really dig in the tube and turn it to the side to really get the product on the applicator.
I wish that it comes in a larger tube because 2.2ml is not that much of a product. I'm almost done with hotshot and I only got them on June 1st. RM49.90 for 2.2 x 2 = 4.4ml is expensive in my opinion.
Now, does it work wonders? I think it works just as well as other lip balms and lip oils out there. I use them everyday and they don't fix my chapped lips unless I use a lip scrub. I do love using crystal clear before I start doing my makeup so my lips have some time to absorb the product before I put on lipstick.
