21 things I Learned Before 21
Just a few things I wish someone told me when I was a teenager and money was not a problem.
- Your long-term goals that you have been dreaming of since you were little? Go get it. Don’t sacrifice your dreams for temporary people. Go study your ass off. Get into the university that you want.
- One day your heart will not be broken as it is right now and you will forget the boy who breaks your heart and you will live. It’s not the end of the world if he didn’t know your worth. It’s the end of his.
- They say to keep your friends close, and enemies closer. I say get rid of your enemies, and you will have a better life. And keep your friends closer!
- The friends you have during high school are the truest friends you will ever have in your entire life. Do everything you can to keep them in your life.
- Fighting with a friend over a boy is not worth it.
- You are not how you were in school 5 years ago. People change. And you will, too.
- High school romance does not last unless you’re one of the rare cases where you are made for each other and we were both young, when I first saw you (Love Story reference there) and you live happily ever after.
- Just appreciate the boy who loves you despite everything you do to him. Please.
- There will be people who talk about you behind your back. LOL just screw them. Don’t respond to their childish behaviour on social medias.
- Do not trust people completely even your friends. Some of them will always try to find a way to betray you. (more on this later/maybe in a separate post?)
- THE BOY YOU THINK YOU’RE IN LOVE WITH IS NOT YOUR FIRST LOVE/TRUE LOVE. DON’T BE FOOLED. There’s a long life ahead of you and I can assure you your soulmate is not in the same school as you.
- You are 12 and your ambition is to be a doctor? You won’t know what you wanna do with life until after you get into university and you get a taste of
deaththat is medic. Take time to think what you wanna do in university. It’s your life. Don’t listen to others including your parents if they are forcing you to do course you don’t have your heart on. - Wear that clothes. Dye your hair if you want to. Try everything with your appearance before you decide to wear hijab permanently.
- Whatever you decide to do with your life, just; do not do drugs. Do not smoke cigarettes. Do not smoke weed. Do not drink alcohol. Do not have sex before marriage but if you do, please wear protection.
- Write, read, and speak in English! We are living in a modern world and not being fluent in English will screw with your self-confidence.
- Do not be afraid to speak of what’s in your heart and what you believe in. Your mind is a magical place that only you can have a taste of. Channel the magic through words. Someone, somewhere in the world is intrigued by you and your mind and would love to hear what you have to say.
- If possible, please avoid having a boyfriend during school. Men are not matured and they don’t know what they want most of the time. Do not give your all to them.
- Please be healthy. Do not be obsessed with getting skinny and neglect your health. Having a thigh gap is not worth your life.
- Do not beg anyone to stay in your life. They will if they want to.
- Believe in karma/kifarah. Whatever you do, good or bad, will always find its way to you.
- No matter how hard the situation you are in right now, it won’t kill you and you will still be alive and that is all that matters (this is honestly how I got through the loads of assignments in university.)
