Of Appreciating Your Mum

I’ve always been the worst when it comes to gifting my loved ones during their birthdays and whatnot. Let’s just say that I usually don’t have ideas on what to buy them and I’m just afraid that they might not like it. However, I always try my best to gift my mom a little something-something although I’m very much well aware that she could afford anything and everything she wants but y’know, it’s the effort of the children that counts, eh?

Last January, my mum turned 49 years old and a day before her birthday, I was frantically searching on internet about what I can get her within a short period of time. I decided to get her a surprise flower delivery and I clicked on the first link on Google search result. And boy, they did not disappoint!

I came across a flower delivery service called Happy Bunch (a little disclaimer: I am not sponsored) who does same-day delivery as well. I picked a bouquet of flowers that I know my mom would like as we both have similar taste and with that, I have the option to add-on a pamper box for a little bit less money when you do buy them separately. I paid for both of them and chose to have them delivered to my mum’s office around 10 am – 2 pm. I think you have the option for an afternoon delivery as well.

You have a lot of box to choose from but I chose the pamper box because I think that’d suit my mum the most. In the box, you get a jar of candle, tea sachets, a sheet mask, a handmade soap, and a bath salt scrub. It’s a really lovely box to surprise someone together with their bouquet of flowers.

On the day of her birthday, I got a call from her around noon saying that she got my flowers already. She was so happy to receive the unexpected flowers and honestly, what else would you ask for? As a soon-to-be mum, it really makes me appreciate my mum more because in a matter of months, I’ll be just like her – a mum to my very own child, if God wills it.
