Her Little Loves 30 (…and a life update)

Hello! I was writing a life update when I realised that I was using numerical points to talk about bits and pieces of my life. Kinda like my Little Loves series, right? So I thought why not just make this the 30th edition? Here goes nothing.

01. I finished three books after a few months of reading slump, particularly due to the book I was reading being a letdown. They kissed by the 50% mark and I’ve never turned off my Kindle so fast. I like a slow burn. The FMC and MMC got together the last 10% of the book? The BETTER.

02. I’m doing something that I have been putting off doing for years, and it’s time to finally get it done–once and for all. November this year was the soonest I could get it done but I trust in Allah’s rizq–I am hopefully going to get it settled by this week. Fingers crossed.

03. Standard 1 school placement result came out recently, and I am happy to announce that both of my kids (they are six and five years old this year) are going to be in standard 1 together next year! Yeay! My daughter got the school I applied her to but sadly my son is placed in another school. I have appealed for my son to be transferred to his sister’s school because of logistics. It’s easier to send both to the same school.

04. The amount of coffee I consumed is unreal and unhealthy but I honestly can’t function without it. I need it to do work and I need it for a good night’s sleep. Weird, huh?

05. I am going somewhere this month with my mom and sister along with my kids so I need to get their passport done by this week hopefully.

06. It has been three months and almost two weeks since I deleted Instagram off my phone. Not constantly updating stories of what I’m doing on the daily basis is liberating. It’s freeing. It’s healing my anxiety. I don’t think I’m ever going to download it back to my phone indefinitely, although I do go on it once in a while on my laptop. I downloaded TikTok again (more like my kids downloaded it hmph) but I don’t go on it all that much. Searching for recipes and reviews? Sure, but I don’t doomscroll anymore, except for Threads but I treat that app as a news app. Only when I need to read something that would leave me mind****ed most of the time. LOL.

07. I am obsessed with the Good Coffee, Great Coffee game. Why haven’t I played it sooner?! It’s so good and cosy and I love decorating my shop and it’s such a non-stressful game for me to play 24/7.

08. Kehlani’s latest self-titled album and Folded remix with Mario and Ne-Yo. Need I say more?

09. We brought our kids to watch Toy Story 5 a few weeks ago. They had watched the first four movies on Disney+ and loved them. And then we had Nando’s afterwards. Is it just me or is Nando’s not worth it anymore? The portion is small and it’s pricey for what they are serving. I left the restaurant still feeling… hungry.

10. I love Turkish dramas. 50-episode long? Okay, not that bad. I can manage. I once watched a 100-episode Malay drama. It’s all good. But 2 hours per episode?! Good god. Took me a day and a half just to finish an episode.

11. I love Jaya Grocer’s pastry section. I had fun choosing all kinds of breads, sourdough especially. And CHEESE! Ah. Cheese. Love ’em.

12. I did not purchase anything of pleasure for myself in July. Okay, maybe a few articles of clothing that I thought I needed (do not judge okay, they were cute). That was so not me, I know. Truthfully, I don’t particularly want anything anymore. I do feel that I have everything I might need, alhamdulillah. I can’t remember the last time I do online shopping so that’s good, right? Although another pair of shoes won’t hurt. Oops.

13. This isn’t groundbreaking news or anything, but I love my iPad so much. I bring it everywhere around the house. The only reason why my phone is more important is because of banking apps. I can make calls on my iPad, I can do everything, except pay for stuff.

14. I think I am ready to start working again. Being a career momma feels so… me.
