Blog lately: A clean slate

A few months ago, I was already heavy on the decision to retire this blog for good. Social media websites spring up like mushrooms and I was sure I would find one that could be my heart-pouring, I’m-excited-for-this-sharing, and an overall main app for creativity and writings.

While I was in the midst of trying to finish up a deadline, I had this sudden urge to go on my blog and try to salvage it one more time. “Let’s just take a break,” I thought to myself while I went on Etsy and browsed around for themes that would tickle me fancy. While we’re at that, let’s brainstorm for a new blog name too because why not? Whatever readers I had before, they are long gone and I can treat this as a new baby, like I’ve been doing for the past five years, four domain names ago.

My annual WordPress hosting renewal was due next month so the timing was kinda perfect to get a new domain while the old one was still active because it will redirect new visitors trying to visit the old domain to this new domain. I must say I have the best hosting provider ever–prompt replies and everything was settled in under two hours. I am impressed. Eight years with the same company, man. That should count for loyalty.

Here I am, 36 hours later with a major overhaul done to the blog. Her Little Plans is now Everyday Ereen, the actual correct spelling of my nickname given by my late dad. In a way I’m trying to cherish his memories albeit very small detail. I’m also saying goodbye to the Barton theme by EmPress that I used since 2021–honestly the best theme ever except that it is subscription based so you have to pay an annual fee (equivalent to the theme’s price with a small discount given) to get the latest update.

So, to anyone who comes across this post by accident (or with full intention)–how are you doing? I hope you like the new blog look.

PS: A year ago, today, I tendered my resignation. Can’t believe it’s been a year!
